Third Writers' Platform-Building Campaign

I'm trying something new.

When I started blogging back in 2008, I wasn't really sure what I wanted out of blogging, and my interest was mainly in keeping up with scattered  family members and friends who I don't get the chance to see and visit with all that often.  I've enjoyed reading their thoughts about this and that and keeping up with their families through pictures etc.

Over the past few months I've been starting to  find many wonderful blogs written by perfect strangers to me that I've started to follow.  The blogs  deal with a wide variety of subjects that interest me; sewing, quilting, photography, families and motherhood, cooking, etc.  Many of the blogs are written by, imagine this, real honest to goodness published writers!  I've dabbled a bit in writing here and there over the years, and so this has been a very fun experience for me.

Last week I came across Rachel Harrie's  Third Writers' Platform-Building Campaign.
What is the Third Writers' Platform-Building Campaign?  In Rachel's own words:  "Basically, the Campaign is a way to link those of us in the writing community together with the aim of helping to build our online platforms. The Campaigners are all bloggers in a similar position, who genuinely want to pay it forward, make connections and friends within the writing community, and help build each others' online platforms while at the same time building theirs."  You can read more about what this campaign involves and how to join if you click here

This sounds a little scary for me, putting myself out in the bloggersphere and introducing myself to total strangers. But I think I want to try it.   So, even though this is completely new territory for me, I'm taking the plunge and joining the Third Writers' Platform-Building Campaign.

Wish me luck!

  7. Thanks everyone! I'm still trying to get around a meet everyone in my groups (I signed up for two, YA and Historical, and think I may have bitten off more than I have time to chew!)

Carrie-Anne, so far I've tried writing about 16th century England and 1830's New England/western frontier. I'm next planning for a story set in colonial Maryland/Virgina.
